How could cloud computing affect us ?

Cloud Computing Model

Cloud computing is Internet-based computing, whereby shared resources, software and information are provided to computers and other devices on-demand.

The basic concept of cloud computing is to share software over the internet so that the user may not have to worry about installing that software. This means you dont need any hard disk space for storing your software.

Cloud computing is still under developmental stages, but some day it’ll be used by almost everyone world wide.

Here are some things that could happen when we switch to cloud computing:

1. Faster internet speed

Cloud computing lets us use software stored on a public server. This means that you’ll need a fast internet speed to access the software efficiently.

2. Lesser hardware requirements

Since software are stored on external servers in cloud computing, we dont need a minimum RAM or Hard Disk space to use the software. All we need is hardware that can run high speed internet.

3. Access to every software

Ever realised that you’ve installed many software and now your hard disk space is less ? You would have probably removed some software which you did not need to save hard disk space. This problem will not be there anymore once cloud computing becomes a standard. Software would be stored on external servers so that you can access each and every software the server has to offer.

4. No more registry clutter

If you use software for a long time, you may realise that it sometimes can thrash up your computer registry. This problem should not be there in cloud.

5. No need to clean up your computer

When you install and uninstall several software, there are many useless files which are left over. Sometimes you have to manually delete these files. In cloud computing, the people managing the servers will take care of the computer maintenance. This way you can be trouble free.

6. Easier file sharing

In cloud computing, your files would be stored on external servers. You would also have the option of storing it on your own personal computer/server. In either way, you can easily share your files. Every file you put is actually already uploaded on the server, so all you have to do is share it with your friends.

7. Hopefully it’ll be free

Since cloud computing should be open, there will be many free software alternatives available to use. If you don’t want to buy a software, you can always use the free and open source alternative.
